Technological Innovation in Marine Fish On-Growing: The case of meagre in RAS

Abstract
SEAentia is a Portuguese aquaculture start-up, which aims to produce top-quality fish in the most sustainable way by combining novel aquaculture engineering with scientific research. SEAentia is pioneering corvina (Argyrosomus regius) production in a sustainable and environmentally friendly RAS production system, where animal health and welfare are a major concern.
We aim to become an international reference in aquaculture by exploring corvina’s great marketing potential and consumer acceptability. For this objective, we’ve built a state-of-the-art pilot RAS in Portugal, which we’ve been operating as our research and development facility for the last 3 years. It allowed the improvement of corvina RAS farming protocols to guarantee animal welfare, biosecurity, traceability and top-level quality fish for human consumption.
