Data-Driven decision making in Aquaculture: research on AI applications

Abstract
Today, the aquaculture industry is universally recognized as an essential and rapidly growing sector. However, its significance is coupled with inherent challenges due to the number of influencing factors – technical, biological, environmental, economic, and even social. Recognizing the need for ongoing innovation, particularly in production processes and decision-making, this speech is focused on exploring the transformative role of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in reshaping the aquaculture sector. This way, the presentation aims to share practical insights on using new technology approaches, specifically focused on data, to improve efficiency and decision-making within aquaculture. To do so, some use cases, including optimization methodologies employing AI techniques and high-performance computing, will be highlighted as examples of how accessible technologies can support aquaculture producers in making informed decisions, contributing to the industry’s sustainable growth.
