FAO in Italy and the Mediterranean region

Abstract
The speech provides an overview of current FAO work on improving the sustainability of the aquaculture and fisheries sectors in Italy and the Mediterranean region, including interventions under the scope of the projects SVC4MED (Improving Fisheries and Aquaculture Value Chains in the Mediterranean within the Blue Growth Initiative), AdriaMed and MedSudMed. Consideration is given to the project SVC4MED, its approach and objectives and, in particular relevant to the analysis of farmed rainbow trout value chain in Italy. The potenatial for further development initiatives is identified.
